5 Formal Pocket Square Folds In 5 Different Way

You might be invented to a formal event, very naturally. Then, you have chosen a suit that seems most approtriate for you. Undoubtedly, using a pocket square will be a good idea. Pocket squares make men look more elegant than they are.

There are some points that you should check while choosing the most appropriate pocket square for you like; formality level of the event, unity of your whole suit and pocket square, your general approach to clothing (casual, very formal, simple/minimal), and the pattern whether it will be or not, etc. The pocket square that you will choose considering these points can be folded in 5 different way.

1. The Straight Fold

This is the most formal fold, which shows a straight thin folded edge. The straight fold is more formal because it is the most minimal, which is in keeping with the simple and streamlined elements of proper Black Tie attire.

2. The Unfinished Fold

This is a slightly less formal take on the straight fold and purely a matter of preference, catering to those who prefer that the pocket square look more functional. By letting the unfinished edge show, the hankerchief looks more useful.

3. The Puff Fold

This is a less formal fold, but also the most common and functional. Typically this fold is more befitting of business suits because it can be too attention grabbing for Black Tie. But many prefer it because it's so easy to stuff back after use.

4. The One Peak Fold

This is a very formal fold, but still less formal than the straight fold. While it was more common in the Jazz Era, this fold is still a popular choice because of its streamlined diagonal edges and ease of use. Also called  the "Corner Fold."

5. The Four Peak Fold

The Four Peak Fold is more fancy than formal. It can be too attention grabbing for Black Tie attire, but perfect for business suits or formal occasions that allow a little flair. To fold, tuck the folded edge in and spread the corners out evenly.
